Russ Hewitt

Award winning, world renowned guitarist Russ Hewitt has been playing guitar since he was eleven. He explains his style of play as “not true Flamenco, jazz, Latin, Cuban or Brazilian but a fusion of styles, sometimes combined together simultaneously without worrying about what particular rules that go with each style.” Russ says there is a “Latin/rumba base” to all his songs but each unique in its own way. He saw a opportunity to get play time for his music with Smooth Jazz Radio embracing similar artists in his genre. Russ Hewitt’s recordings, “Bajo el Sol” and “Alma Vieja,” have produced four Top 40 Smooth Jazz singles, Made the ballot in five categories for the 52nd Grammys Awards, enjoyed a ten week stay at #1 on the Music Choice satellite cable television Smooth Jazz playlist and maintained a constant presence on the Smooth Jazz indie charts for over 16 weeks.

Hewitt has endorsements from Godin guitars, Radial Engineering, Analysis Plus Cables, Morley Pedals, V-Picks, Voodoo Lab, BBF pedal boards and DSL effects plus a monthly column in the guitar magazine ‘The Sound’, and continues to extend his boundaries into soundtracks and commercial work having just recently won a Telly Award for his work on ‘Parent Compass’.
